Philynch (pronounced "Flinch") Productions is a mulit-media production company created by Phil D'Annibale and Jack Lynch in 2004 (Phil + Lynch = Philynch). The two were both Media, Communications, and Technology majors at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Besides their love for the camera both men also had a similar love for business. East Stroudsburg, a college renowned for its Teaching and Computer Science programs was not custom to TV/Film majors sharing in the spot light of academic superiority.
Starting off as neighbors in the same dormitory Jack and Phil came to the realization that their collaborative efforts on class assignments set the standard for quality and creativity higher than it had been in years. On top of all their school work, the two also began selling their services out as freelance artists, upon purchasing their first professional grade camera and editing machine.
Although they had worked on short films in the passed, in January 2006 they embarked on an independent study never before approached by a student at the university. The goal was to spend and entire semester to produce a twenty minute film which was to be advertised and premiered to the entire campus and community at a local media fair. The film not only tested the two creatively and academically but also in practicality and resourcefulness. The end result was so well received that their independant study set the precedent to which other students have to follow when undertaking a similar project. They now have to conceptualize an idea and follow the proper avenues of promotion in order to satisfy a projected client.
By the fall of 2006 Phil and Jack, still swamped with freelance jobs and colleges classes further tested their skills by entering The 2nd Annual Emmaus Horror Film Festival, or to anyone who entered the contest "two days of hell". The objective was for applicants to create a six-minute film from projected guidelines, and they were only given 44 hours to do so. The idea excited Philynch, who ferociously attacked the challenge utilizing sleepless nights and bottomless cups of coffee. The story which centered itself around an allegory of two friends whose past disagreements erupt in violence one day, struck gold with judges and audiences, and they were rewarded the grand prize for the college division.
